The Protectors Handgun Training Course
Overview Course Content
Program tuition includes: Classroom instruction, hands-on shooting and instruction on a live-fire range, special program notebook and certificates issued by the Executive Protection Institute. Lunches will be provided when at the shooting range. Students may bring their own weapons and equipment or utilize school weapons, magazines, pouches, holsters, flashlights, shooting glasses and protective hearing devices. This program meets or exceeds the Personal Protection Specialist Basic and Advanced Handgun Course (07E and 09E) required by the Virginia State D.C.J.S. requirement to perform as an Armed Personal Protection Specialist with a concealed handgun permit in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Protectors Advanced Handgun In-Service Training (VA required 09R course)
Overview Personal Protection Specialist (P.P.S.) Handgun annual in service training is required for all registered/armed P.P.S. agents in Virginia within the 12-month period immediately preceding your registration expiration date and is recommended for all others carrying a firearm in the course of providing armed executive protection. The program includes the eight-hour classroom requirement and shooting qualification on the range. Tuition: 1 1/2 Days - $150.00 (Lodging and ammunition are not included) 3 Day Executive Protection ProgramOverview This abbreviated program offers 3 days of instruction which each student participates in learning sophisticated, innovative skills and techniques pertaining to personal performance on protective assignments. This program is for individuals involved in other security careers, law enforcement, and military and have interest in the field of providing personal protection. Also for corporate and as a refresher for EPI graduates or graduates from other schools. It is an opportunity to learn the difference between "bodyguard" work and professional personal protection. The Executive Protection Institute has been actively training professionals and is the first school to consider Personal Protection as a new professional career and continues to teach worldwide. (This amount will be issued as a credit if student attends a 3 or 7 day program within 1 year of attending this course-discount certificate issued) “Protection Response Tactics-PRT” CourseThe Executive Protection Institute (EPI) is developing a new system of innovative and proven response measures designed to fulfill the unique requirements of the Personal Protection Specialist (PPS). EPI's Protection Response Tactics (PRT) includes techniques from a variety of striking and grappling arts that will be beneficial to both the skilled operator and the novice. PRT offers appropriate solutions to all levels of risk. All countermeasures employed by the PPS should reduce the risk to those they protect. The PPS seeks to reduce the risk to the client by avoiding confrontation. If faced with confrontation, the PPS would prefer to evacuate the client. Sometimes, avoidance does not work, sometimes evacuation is not the answer, and sometimes the appropriate countermeasure is the reasonable application of physical force. PRT provides the tools necessary for that reasoned response. With the increased popularity of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), PPSs face an opponent who has increased awareness and access to effective training. Despite proper preparations to avoid conflict, the PPS may be faced with a threat that requires immediate engagement. PRT provides the tools and the training to reduce the risk by engaging the threat. Lead instructor for the course is Alan Baker of the Atlanta Martial Arts Center (AMAC). Alan has 14 black belts in various disciplines awarded by acknowledged masters in their art. Alan has years of training military, law enforcement and private sector personnel. Assisting Alan is Stacy Roberts, a former law enforcement officer who is now a skilled private sector operator. Both Alan and Stacy are PPS certified and instructors with EPI.
