Ana Paula Alfonso

Ana Paula Alfonso is originally from Brazil and arrived in the U.S. in 2003. Less than three years later she began to train and operate in the security field. Working with a large New York based Security Company, she has performed various executive protection assignments to include protective details, escorts, estate security, special events, advancing, administrative duties and executive protection driving. Mrs. Alfonso has also, operated a small secure transportation company which transports both domestic and foreign executives and their families in and around New York City and the tri-state area.
Prior to coming to the U.S., she worked as an interior designer and managed a design company in Brazil.
Mrs. Alfonso is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, a member of the Nine Lives Associates and the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.
Thomas A. Bradshaw

First Sergeant Thomas Bradshaw is the Area Commander for Richmond City and Henrico County. He has more than 25 years service with the Department of State Police and was also a Suffolk Virginia police officer for seven years. First Sergeant was the former Assistant Unit Commander and the Executive Officer of the Executive Protective Unit for the Office of the Governor. He was the former Intelligence Officer for threat assessments and the Medical Officer for the Protective Detail.
First Sergeant Bradshaw’s background includes 16 years of Emergency Medical Services and he is currently a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician - Tactical. He is a graduate of the United States Secret Service Protective Operations and U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service Academies. He served for 7 years as the Master Operator with the Virginia State Police Elite Anti-Terrorism Tactical/SWAT Team. He has vast experience with high-profile events such as Governor’s and Presidential inaugurations. First Sergeant Bradshaw has advanced and provided protection on numerous trade missions worldwide, working closely with the U.S. Embassy and foreign authorities.
First Sergeant Bradshaw is a certified instructor in the Department of Homeland Security Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, Federal Air Marshall Service Law Enforcement Officers Flying Armed Certification and Department of Justice Terrorism for Law Enforcement Officers. He is a certified Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services General Instructor and an Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor. He has provided training internationally as a Lead Instructor on behalf of the Virginia State Police to various local, state, and federal agencies on the topic of dignitary protection.
First Sergeant Bradshaw holds a B.S. degree in Governmental Administration and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Christopher Newport University. He also received a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership from the University of Virginia – National Criminal Justice Command College. He is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, a member of the Nine Lives Associates and the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers.
Lowell (Sonny) Burmaster

Sonny Burmaster has worked as a personal protection agent for more than 32 years. He is Chief of Staff for the Jefferson Parish Council, where he is responsible for the security of the 7 elected officials who govern Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. In addition to providing personal protection services to each council member, he also is responsible for the protection and security of the Council government offices and staff. Mr. Burmaster serves as the Chief of Security for the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans, which is the largest parade of the season.
Mr. Burmaster is the Commander of the Gretna Police Department Reserve Division. He has been involved in law enforcement for the past 20 years. He is a certified instructor in PPCT (Pressure Point Control Tactics), Defensive Tactics, straight stick, expandable baton, and the PR-24 (Police Side Handle Baton). Mr. Burmaster is on the State Executive Board of the Louisiana Association of Reserve Peace Officers.

Anthony H. Christiana, Jr.

Major Anthony Christiana has more than 3 decades of law enforcement experience, and currently serves as a Commander of Operations in the Gretna Police Department. He instructs on a variety of police topics for Academy and college programs, and has attended D.E.A., F.B.I., and I.A.C.P. training classes. In 1988, Major Christiana was commissioned by the U.S. Department of Justice to serve as a Treasury Agent for the U.S. Customs Service - Blue Lightening Strike Force. He was the project director of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement’s Municipal Drug Task Force, and worked as an undercover detective in the Southeast District of Louisiana, Organized Crime Division, Department of Justice.
Major Christiana was selected to serve on a peer review committee for the National Institute of Justice, Justice Department, Washington, DC, and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville. Major Christiana’s security accomplishments include working as a consultant to Louisiana Power and Light, Entergy Corporation, and a host of oil industry corporations. His personal protection assignments have included a variety of business clients and entertainers. He directed protection assignments for more than 30 corporations during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and the 2005 Winter Olympics in Italy. Major Christiana’s specialty includes the coordination and implementation of personal protection teams for major events such as Super Bowls, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, LA, the Annual Gretna Heritage Festival, corporate meetings, and high-profile celebrity tours on an international level.
Major Christiana is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute and the Director of Operations for the Institute. Paul R. Collis

Paul Collis manages his own Personal Protection and Security Consulting Corporation. His duties for the past 17 years have included intelligence management, estate security, and various high-risk international assignments as a personal protection specialist.
Mr. Collis was the Team Leader providing personal protection and serving as the Operations Commander for a Diplomatic Protection Team for the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additional duties included domestic and international advances, coordination and interaction with various high-level diplomatic and government protection details. Mr. Collis served 16 years in the Royal Marines Commandos, with 12 of those years assigned to the Special Boat Service, specializing in counter terrorism. Dr. H.H.A. Cooper is an internationally known authority on matters of security and intelligence. He served as the Staff Director of the U.S. Task Force National Advisory Committee on Disorders and Terrorism, and was a Special Consultant to the National Wiretapping Commission. He is an Attorney and Professor of Law and is a Consultant to several major international corporations. Dr. Cooper served with the Special Investigations Branch of the Royal Military Police and with Her Majesty’s Civil Service. He has been the Chairman of the Non-Governmental Advisory Group before the United Nations Alliance for the Control and Prevention of Crime.
Dr. Cooper is presently on the faculty of the School of Law, University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Cooper speaks Spanish, Italian, French, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian. He is the author of numerous journal and magazine articles, monographs and text on a wide variety of security issues. Dr. Cooper has published several books on intelligence, spies and assassinations. He is frequently seen on network television in the U.S. and Canada and appears on radio talk shows with respect to major incidents of violence, security issues and business intelligence topics. Glenn A. Daggs

Glenn Daggs is the President and founder of OSS International Inc. His responsibilities include executive management and coordination of consulting, protective services and operations in the corporate sector.
Mr. Daggs founded OSS International Inc. in 2002, and comes from a wealth of experience in Executive Protection and Corporate Security. Responsible for global investigations at a fortune 500 company, he has had the opportunity to conduct advance work and threat assessment experience in Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, and Argentina. Additionally his security knowledge extends to Europe, Asia Pacific and domestically.
Mr. Daggs has over twenty years experience in workplace violence and management of critical incidents as a Police Officer and Detective for a major metropolitan City in Northern California. He has investigated major felony crimes, and assisted Federal/State Prosecutors and District Attorneys with case preparation and presentation, provided expert testimony in court, and served on tactical weapons (SWAT) and special enforcement units. Glenn holds the highest honor awarded a police officer (Medal of Valor). He was also awarded Master Officer (Gold Badge) and was named Officer of the Year by his peers. He is certified as an instructor in firearms and defensive tactics training. Mr. Daggs also teaches at the collegiate level as well as an in-service instructor. He has a B.A. in Business Management, is a Certified HR specialist and has numerous professional affiliations.

Jason M. DiMarco

Sergeant DiMarco has been a law enforcement officer since 1996. He is a graduate of several law enforcement training programs and he is currently pursuing a pre-law degree at Holy Cross College in New Orleans. Sergeant DiMarco’s firearms certifications include: Patrol Rifle and Handgun/Shotgun Instructor of the NRA, Singleton International MP5 and M4 Instructor, Glock Law Enforcement Instructor, Glock Armorer, Beretta Armorer, Firearms Instructor Development Program, Colt’s Armorer, NRA Tactical Shooting Instructor, Alerrt Active Shooting Instructor, Louisiana CCW Instructor and Instructor Certification Course of the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training Council. Gene Ferrara has worked for the University of Cincinnati since 1978, and now directs their public law enforcement agency responsible for all medical center and campus security operations and criminal investigations. His prior service included 17 years with the Cincinnati Police Department as a cadet, patrolman, police specialist, sergeant of police, and assistant director of the Cincinnati/Hamilton County Police Academy. His instructional expertise includes firearms, operational planning, officer survival techniques, and Executive/VIP Protection. Chief Ferrara organized, coordinated, and personally participated in training programs throughout the nation on a wide variety of police and security issues. He also has trained personal protection teams in Europe and South Africa.
Chief Ferrara holds a B.S. degree in police administration and a M.Ed. degree in training and personnel development from Xavier University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He worked on-site in security operations for NBC during the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, Atlanta, Georgia, Salt Lake City, Utah and Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Arthur B. Fulton

Dr. Art Fulton is formerly a professor of law and criminal justice at a local college. He served for more than 23 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in a variety of positions and retired as an Inspector and Deputy Assistant Director.
Dr. Fulton is an attorney and a graduate of several senior-level executive and management programs, including The FBI Senior Executive Seminar, The U.S. Army Military Intelligence Course, and the Department of Defense Computer Institute. He graduated with “distinction” from the Senior Seminar in Foreign Policy of the U.S. Department of State. Jerome H. Glazebrook

Jerry Glazebrook has more than 38 years of security and personal protection experience. Beginning with the U.S. Marine Corp, Mr. Glazebrook specialized in Personal Security Detail training and was assigned to U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Vietnam; and later promoted to Chief of Personal Protection Unit. After his discharge, he worked as a U.S. contractor supervising 1,000-person guard force assigned to protect U.S. property and citizens in the Republic of Vietnam. Mr. Glazebrook has worked for private families and numerous high-profile multi-national companies. His responsibilities have included crisis management, contingency planning, executive protection, and supervision and administration of personal and physical security requirements. He has conducted advance planning for domestic and foreign travel, including multi-day advances to arrange for law enforcement support, travel logistics, accommodations and event planning.
Mr. Glazebrook has also managed security of private aircraft and seagoing yachts. As Director of Security and Special Assistant to the Honorable Dr. and Mrs. Henry Kissinger, Mr. Glazebrook managed domestic and international security supervised a seven-man security team, office and residential security and security for Dr. Kissinger's documents and papers frequently serving as liaison with domestic and foreign government police, military and intelligence agencies and special projects as assigned by Dr. Kissinger. As president of Hill & Associates ( Americas) Inc., a Hong Kong based firm, he assisted leading corporations with high net worth individuals in addressing security needs. Mr. Glazebrook also was senior vice-president Giuliani-Kerik, LLC, an international security and investigative consulting company. At Limited Brands, Mr. Glazebrook was Vice President, Office of Protective Operations directing and reorganizing a multi-disciplined security team, which was responsible for domestic and international security and safety of the Chairman and family, overseeing a multi-million dollar budget.
Presently Mr. Glazebrook is President and Managing Director of Breen Glazebrook Associates, LLC, a risk management firm, providing services to Fortune 500 companies and private individuals. He has co-authored numerous books including the Executive Protection Handbook.

Juan Diego Gonzalez

During his 26-year Army career, Mr. Gonzalez received training in the United States Army Special Forces on communications, weapons, demolitions, counter-terrorism, operations and intelligence. He was a master parachutist, sniper, and Special Forces Divemaster, and Combat Engineer. He developed the Strategic Target Analysis course for the Special Forces Officer Detachment qualification, and implemented counter-terrorism and presidential protection programs in Honduras, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. He was an original member of the first counter-terrorism force for the United States.

Jerry Heying has more than 31 years of security and personal protection experience. Beginning in 1977, Mr. Heying managed a security department of a high-rise building and entertainment facility that was active with international dignitaries and celebrities. He was a team member of a large personal protection team for a private family for more than 8 years.
In l989, Mr. Heying founded the International Protective Service Agency; a New York State licensed security and investigation company that specializes in special event security and personal protection. He was also a Sergeant with the New York City Auxiliary Police Department at Midtown South for 8 years. Investigator Bill Horn has more than 33 years of law enforcement experience. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Law Enforcement Academy and worked with the 3750th Security Police Squadron as patrolman, correctional officer and arms room attendant. From 1982 to 1985, he was the Town Sergeant and then the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the Middletown, Virginia Police Department. Investigator Horn served as Captain of Administrative Services with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office in Winchester, Virginia and as a Security Officer with the Department of Homeland Security.
Investigator Horn is a certified Firearms Instructor with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, specializing in shotgun applications. He is a certified Instructor/Trainer in Health and Safety with the American Red Cross, specializing in Emergency Medicine applications.
Investigator Horn is a graduate of the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Academy. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University with a minor in Communication Studies. Beth Kalyan

Beth Kalyan has a vast security and executive protection career with diverse private and public sector experience. She provides personal protection services to a variety of clients, as well as surveillance, counter-surveillance and investigative services. Her assignments have included protection of corporate officers, public officials and Miss America.
Ms. Kalyan is an instructor in several security disciplines, including firearms and driving. Ms. Kalyan presently manages her own tactical clothing and equipment company, where she has built a client base through quality service and delivery. She previously worked as a Sales Associate, where she marketed and sold firearms to police officers, security personnel and individuals. She is a sworn law enforcement officer for Washington, DC (Reserve), and is also a sworn Court Appointed Special Advocate in Fairfax County, Virginia. She recently served as Reserve Officer, Gretna, Louisiana, during Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts. Ms. Kalyan is certified as a NRA Handgun Instructor. She is also a certified Police and Security Driver, Survival Force and Expandable Baton and OC Aerosol Instructor.

Scott Kempkens

For the past 4 years Mr. Kempkens has been working a High-Threat protection detail in Iraq providing protective services to several US Ambassadors, government officials, dignitaries, and other high-level diplomatic personnel. He has worked various areas in Iraq, including 18 months in Baghdad, as well as the entire northern region with over 2000 successful missions.
Mr. Kempkens is also a founding member of one of two Quick Reaction Force-Counter Assault Teams and helped develop S.O.P.'s for Department of State High-Threat Operations. He also held the position of team intelligence specialist for the past 2 1/2 years and has dealt with various intelligence sources. On his most recent assignment, he was appointed team leader. Mr. Kempkens was recognized by Ambassador Khalilzad for actions under fire while wounded while protecting US Dignitaries and has been nominated for the Defense of Freedom medal. Prior to his assignment overseas Mr. Kempkens worked for Royal family members, corporate clients and spent almost ten years working for a wealthy family both overseas and in the US. He has six years experience in the US Army training in various climates and held various advisor and instructor positions.

Candice M. Kobetz

Candice Kobetz has worked as an office manager, assistant to the director, and hospitality coordinator for the Executive Protection Institute. Currently, she assists on special projects. Ms. Kobetz has worked numerous personal protection details and in the summer of 1996, worked with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games as a security officer at the International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia. She is nationally-certified as a horseback riding instructor and a paralegal. Ms. Kobetz also manages her own clothing and equestrian equipment distribution business. An avid photographer, her photographs are often seen in company publications.

Mary E. Kobetz

Mary Kobetz manages the day to day operations at the Executive Protection Institute with emphasis on administrative and logistical project planning and execution. Prior to coming to the Institute, she had an extensive career as an audiovisual specialist, project manager and contracting officer.
For over 20 years, Mrs. Kobetz produced and directed video productions internationally and throughout the United States. For the U.S. Navy, she frequently worked with foreign governments and high profile military and civilian personnel. With the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Postal Service, Mrs. Kobetz managed all audiovisual projects producing and directing Inspector General training and information videos, and the management and oversight of large multi-facet audiovisual contracts for conferences, conventions; seminars and teleconferences. She was the graphics consultant on special projects for the Inspector General’s printed media including the Semi-Annual Report to Congress. For several years, Mrs. Kobetz produced a daily Postal Service electronic newsletter. Before leaving government service, Mrs. Kobetz served as a project manager and Government Contracting Officer with the US Army. Mrs. Kobetz previously owned and operated a small catering business in the Washington DC area.

Professor John I. Kostanoski

Professor John Kostanoski is the Chair of the Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Security Systems at Farmingdale State University of New York. He has served as a Technical Consultant to the National Institute of Justice and is editor of the Journal of Applied Security Research, a peer-reviewed academic Journal that is published quarterly. He is a frequent lecturer to security personnel and corporate executives on security technology matters and has been involved for several years with engineering authorities in the development of high technology protection systems. His most recent contribution has been in the blending of quality equipment with innovative techniques of design to offer portability-plus protection systems. He also serves as an instructor at the Executive Protection Institute on investigative and personal protection technology and as a consultant on security technology surveys.
Professor Kostanoski has received a certificate in classification management from the Department of Defense, Defense Industrial Security Institute, Richmond, Virginia; and has completed the Cisco Certified Network Associate training program. He holds a BS and an MA degree, both in Criminal Justice, from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York. He is the co-author of the text: Security & Loss Control, Macmillan Publishing Company, 1983 and Introduction to Security and Loss Control, Prentice Hall, 1990.

Sheila Krieg

Sheila Krieg has been a freelance personal protection specialist for a number of years. Her assignments have included the protection of corporate executives, spouses, children and members of a Middle Eastern royal family. Mrs. Krieg has also worked on details in Texas, Colorado, California, Arizona, Virginia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. In one of her latest assignments, she was responsible for the day-to-day management and logistical details of a 100-day executive protection/strike detail involving 25 personal protection agents.
Mrs. Krieg’s former experience includes an extensive managerial career in the dental field and as an Air Security Officer for Homeland Security.

Tom Krieg began his security career over twenty-eight years ago as a loss prevention investigator for a regional retail company. Through his Emergency Medical Technician certification, Mr. Krieg entered the executive protection field and was employed by a Fortune 50 company. During his 16-year career at Motorola, he progressed from security patrol officer to manager of the Executive Security Services program. Mr. Krieg left Motorola in 1999 and formed Krieg &
Associates, a company that specializes in investigative and protective services.

John S. Negus, has been in Law Enforcement and as a Security Consultant for over 30 years. He is a retired member of the New York City Police Department. Upon joining the New York Police Department, Sergeant Negus was assigned to patrol, plainclothes, anticrime, Citywide Street Crime, Special Operations and the Intelligence Division. As an Investigator/ Detective, his duties included general and specialized investigations as well as special operations and training. Michael Jon Valentine joined the U.S. Marshals Service in January, 2008, where he serves as the Deputy Administrator of the National Center for Judicial Security (NCJS), a component of the Judicial Security Division. Judge Valentine retired in 2007 from the 19 th Judicial District of Virginia after 27 years on the bench. Active in the U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Valentine served for 35 years before retiring in 2005 as a Senior Criminal Investigator at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4). He was assigned as the Special Agent in Charge for the Protective Services Activity in Riyadh and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Judge Valentine is a veteran of more than 50 missions for 5 Secretaries of Defense, 4 Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs, 3 Chiefs of Staff of the Army, 3 Secretaries of the Army, and more than 20 foreign counterparts visiting in the U.S. He has served on missions throughout the U.S., China, most South and Central American countries, Europe and the Middle East.
Judge Valentine was mobilized after September 11, 2001, and served in Afghanistan, the Philippines, and Bosnia. As a result of his fluency in Spanish, he was frequently assigned to conduct the protective security advances in Central and South America where he continues to have professional contacts among the police and senior military officials. Judge Valentine also served on the adjunct faculty at the National College of Juvenile and Family Court Judges at the University of Nevada, Reno, lecturing on personal security for judges and court security for court houses and staff. He has also served as a member of the adjunct faculty of the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia.
